Step Sixteen is the final in the series of steps to getting into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. The program consists of twelve primary activities which serve as guidelines for daily activities and self-payment. The first of these activities is called Self Payment Day. It requires each patient to make a single payment for each service they receive from the facility, such as their treatment, help with chores around the house and related services.
In order to receive services at the self-payment center, patients must have received twelve months of outpatient treatment, during which time they were not admitted to a hospital or nursing home. For individuals who are unable to pay their own way through treatment, private insurance may cover some or all of the cost of treatment. To find out if your health insurance provider will cover this facility, call your private insurance provider and ask. In the event that they do cover some of the cost of Step Sixteen, it may give you a preference for how much you would like to pay each month towards your treatment.
The final step in the twelve-step program is called Incentive Maintenance. This activity allows families and individuals who are unable to pay their way through the drug and alcohol rehabilitation program to be granted an extended stay at a local hotel or other facility. Each family and person are evaluated on their specific requirements for a short term stay.
