If you are a Cal-Works customer who has been through a drug rehab program and are looking to continue your participation in Cal Works Volunteer Training, you will need to complete your paperwork. Your completion of the requisite paperwork will enable the California Workforce Commission to assign you to a specific volunteer training program in Cal-Works. Once you have completed your application, you will be notified if your paperwork is approved and what courses you need to take. In case your paperwork is not approved, you will have the option of signing up for the program on an individual basis.
If you choose to sign up on an individual basis, you will have to complete two different classes in addition to your drug addiction treatment program volunteering. The required courses will help you prepare to work with disabled and elderly individuals, among others. These classes are designed to teach you how to interact with these individuals in a friendly manner, so that you do no harm to them while participating in the voluntary service program. In addition to helping you learn how to interact with the general public in a friendly way, you will also learn how to identify the warning signs of substance abuse.
When volunteering for Cal Works as a drug addiction treatment program volunteer, you will be serving your community and helping to build long term relationships with local businesses. This can be a rewarding experience for many people. It is important that before you sign up for a Cal-works job as a volunteer, that you make sure that the job will meet your needs.
