Dr. Linda L MFT is a certified family therapist and a seminary instructor at Canyon Crest College in Encinitas, California. In her role as a family therapist, Dr. MFT assists families in recovery from various types of addiction. She has specialized in family therapy and drug addiction recovery since 1984, having worked with several groups of individuals and groups such as those suffering from alcoholism, drug addiction, vagrancy, and other related problems. This personal career has earned her numerous awards, including the Outstanding Practitioner (Physicians, Rehabilitation Services) award from the American Board of Family Therapy and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
Her strengths include her extensive clinical practice in substance abuse, couples’ therapy, and anxiety disorders. Other areas of expertise focus on marriage and family therapy, children and adolescents, divorce and postpartum depression, and phobias. Her areas of emphasis are all related to the family system, as she has extensive training in family systems theory, assessment, intervention, and effective coaching. As a clinical psychologist, she has also gained additional knowledge in the use of medication in treating mental disorders. Her specific areas of expertise are: phobias and anxiety disorders; substance abuse and dependency; family systems theory; Applied Behavior Analysis; and neuropharmacology, focusing on the use of cognitive therapy in treating brain chemistry.
