In the City of Los Angeles, there is a drug rehab clinic that has joined forces with Nuevo Youth Services to provide a quality, drug addiction treatment program for young people. This is an innovative idea in that so few clinics offer such comprehensive services. It’s one that takes into consideration the unique issues of young people, their behaviors, families and circumstances. This then combines with professional expertise in alcohol abuse treatments, substance abuse treatments and family therapies. It’s a collaboration that speaks to the need for a comprehensive, coordinated drug rehab in the L.A. area.
With this new partnership, more than 25th Street is expanding its outreach to include more communities in the coming years. Many of the outreach activities will be focused on providing the Nuevo Youth Services staff with the training they need to offer more effective drug rehab programs. These include peer education, educational trips, work place drug rehab programs and after school programs for high school students. The goal is to work closely with families and provide as much individualized, specialty care as possible.
It’s too often we see drug and alcohol rehab centers focused on the symptoms of substance abuse and trying to resolve the underlying problems. This inevitably leaves many families and individuals struggling to keep their lives together and going through the healing process without the help they need when it comes to preventing future drug and alcohol use. Nuevo Youth Services and the Center for Drug and Alcohol Addiction Services are taking a different approach that is bound to bring fruitful results in the near future. We wish them luck!
