Mouton Douglas County is located in eastern Colorado, within the northern ponder of the Roaring Fork Mountains. The area has seen a steady rise in population for many years and has developed quite an affluent middle class and a vibrant entertainment district. In the latter, you will find the movie theater (the largest in the state) and the very popular Cirque du Soleil performance art shows. There is also the Winter Fest, a popular outdoor summer event. Recently, however, it has been discovered that there are a drug and alcohol rehabilitation treatment program in town.
The Mouton-Douglas County Police Department and the sheriff’s department were notified of the problem several months ago. The substance abuse unit of the police department and the mental health department were notified as well. It appears to have been an accident more or less, with no one seriously injured. Sheriff Lewis Pillow has spoken highly of the police department and says that he will be convening an “operation” to clean up the drug trade from the town. Pillow added that he did not think that the county was lacking in needing such an operation, considering that it is one of the more historically wealthy areas in all of Colorado.
The Mouton-Douglas County Public Safety Division has appointed a special committee to address issues surrounding substance abuse and addiction. A task force of community members will be appointed to make recommendations for enhancing the response to drug addiction and recovery in the county. A number of local treatment centers are involved and are providing excellent programs. The committee is looking for any local organizations that could supply a comprehensive and effective drug rehab facility that can meet the needs of the county and its residents.
